Online Make-A-Thon
8 to 9 August 2026
(members only)

Guild members are invited to join this FREE event to work on a project of their own, or perhaps for the motivation to get started on one. There are kits available to purchase but they are not necessary to join in with the event, and you can use your own materials.

Work on puppet making, show building, research projects, puppeteering practice, designing and writing in a supportive environment with your peers. Wherever you are in your puppetry journey allow yourself a whole weekend to immerse yourself.

The Puppet Barge is back in Abingdon this Summer from July 11 to August 9 2026
Picture2.jpg

Puppet Theatre Barge's most recent production is a fun-filled musical adventure written by NewYorker mag cartoonist and screenwriter Maddie Dai. In the little village of Rocky Snore, all the fisherfolk are in a mess. Where have all the fish gone? There are no fish to fish! Join Captain Sandy on her adventure to try and find out what’s happened! A brand new show by the Puppet Theatre Barge: expect stormy seas, sea monsters, grumpy fishermen and seaweed cake. With beautiful puppetry and live singing, this show can be enjoyed by all the family!

Duration: 45 min no interval

Recommended for ages 4 to 10

This show has a storyline that can be followed and enjoyed by 4 and 5 year olds, but also uses more complex ideas, humour, dialogue and song lyrics that older children and adults will get a lot out of. There’s nothing really scary in this show, but it does use dramatic music and lighting, for example the theatre will go dark during the performance, which some children might find unsettling and the characters face some perils during the performance.
