Samantha Webb is primarily a children’s author and illustrator, She has always loved puppetry but really got into it after taking a ten week long course, where she met Broken Puppet Theatre Company. Her initial idea was to create puppets of her book characters to take along to readings in schools and nurseries, but it has grown into much more than that and has become a real passion. Using skills Samantha has honed from over a decade of making artist bears and from creating her book characters, she is now creating characters in puppet form. Sassy Celina being a firm favourite, but wonderstruck Woah and charming Cedar never too far behind. Samantha likes to create characters that make people smile and give them hope. She tries to infuse her puppets with a can do attitude that she hopes inspires the audience and people they are coming into contact with.

She has been a fan of puppets since she was born. Who wouldn’t be when growing up in the height of Henson, Fraggle Rock being her absolute favourite.

Samantha now creates her own characters, sometimes from professional material and other times from scrap and recycling. She is new to puppet making and is learning with every build and every performance. You can see more of her journey on her social media page, Moby and Puddle. In the future Samantha hopes to turn one of her books into a short play or film consisting entirely of puppets, She is not sure that she has written the perfect story for the job yet but will continue to work on it with enthusiasm and excitement for what is to come.
