Rosie Cleary

Rosie’s interest in puppets began as a child, growing up with shows such as Rosie and Jim, Tot’s TV, Fraggle Rock and LazyTown to name a few. She has always had a passion for performing and making, so becoming a puppeteer seemed a natural conclusion. She studied Set Design and Production at University of Wales Trinity Saint David between 2019 and 2022, where she learnt valuable making skills and gained experience behind the scenes in the theatre.

It was during her second year where she discovered her knack for puppet building after being put in the puppetry team for their Little Shop of Horrors module. Her first “proper” puppet was a small scale Audrey II. She credits Adam Kreutinger as the main inspiration for her puppet building, as it was his YouTube tutorials that initially taught her how to build her first hand puppet. Since leaving University she has been involved in several puppetry projects, including puppeteering for the YouTube series Badger’s Wood, and building puppets for the Concept Players’ stage production of Into the Woods.

As well as this, she has led several puppetry classes for young children. Rosie’s main goal is to become a regular TV puppeteer, especially within children’s entertainment. She has many upcoming plans and projects, including a collaboration with her friend Basil Marriott-Waite and will soon be making and selling some of her puppets. You can find her work on Instagram.
