Finley Wood
Finley Wood had a passion for puppetry even before he entered the guild, watching various amounts of Muppets, Sesame Street and other UK puppets content. He also enjoyed playing with the puppets he had available, but he prioritised animation at the time. It was quite a long time of trying various other hobbies out and still thinking about animation, he finally decided in 2023 he wanted to be a full – time puppeteer! It was a little while after in 2024, when his father discovered that a Dark Crystal convention being held in Elstree Studios, when things got to a head…..
For when he went, not only did he have a good time, but he also went to visit the café, and when he did, he found out about the British Puppet Guild! He first visited a stall being manned by Lee Thompson, but next to it was Zippy from Rainbow (whom he was a big fan of) and his puppeteer, Ronnie Le Drew. He also got his first professional puppet here, Zoomer (who he later renamed Merph) and it set the seed to learn about the guild, kick-starting a brand-new part of his life which he would really quite enjoy.
He joined the Guild in 2025 (at 11 years of age). Now he often goes to guild events, getting to meet some of his favourite characters and their puppeteers, plus making a puppet troupe called the MadGloves and gave them their own web series “The MadGloves Show” and is still active now at his YouTube channel FinnsMadGloves, not only is he happy were he is currently, but hopes to see a bright career ahead of him!
